Myers Container/CMS reaches out to the community
Beaverton, Oregon -- The Terra Linda Elementary
school got a surprise visit on Tuesday from a full-size Myers Container/CMS
truck as part of the school's "Transportation Day." Among the different
means of transportation there was a brand new F350, an Army Hummer, a boat, jet
skis, Volkswagen Beetles, a fire engine, and mobile energy repair trucks.
However, what may have the biggest surprise was the popularity of the semi with
the second graders, who literally lined up for a chance to see the truck
firsthand.
The truck's horn was it's most popular feature,
as each child got the opportunity to sit in the driver's seat like a real long
hauler. In the back were all of the company's products, ranging from IBCs
to steel drums. Both the kids and adults alike were treated to a
explanation of the container industry and how useful it is to everyday life.
Vice President of Sales & Marketing Kyle Stavig recalled who designed first
steel drum and illustrated all of the different exciting products it has come to
transport in an effort to teach the children how valuable of a product a drum is.
The coordinators and adult helpers all agreed
that the day was a success and that they appreciated everyone for taking
time out to come down for the kids on such a beautiful Oregon day The
effort put out by all participants was an encouraging sign amidst financial
trouble in the state's schools that the concern for education is still integral
to the communities that support them.
