Steps
for preparing the IBCs for shipment:
-
Every IBC must
be completely empty, (i.e., drip-dry, granule -free), free of any
solidified residue on the inside and outside
of the container, and be in compliance
with Federal Regulation 40 CFR 261.7 or California Title 22 66261.7
(when generating from or shipping to California reconditioning locations).
For example, outside California, an IBC previously containing hazardous
waste that is viscous, it may not have remaining residue, which is more than
0.3% of the containers total capacity by weight (this is 3/10 of 1%, or no
more than 8.25 / 10ths of a gallon in a 275 gallon IBC) . For IBC's
generated or shipped to California, the standards for Pourable and Non-Pourable
materials must be followed by the empty IBC generator.
Failure to
comply with these regulations will result in the containers being returned
to you at your expense (freight charge back to the end-user).
For all
Non-Regulated product residual (subject to MSDS review) in excess of the
allowable amount, not more than 0.3% (3/10 of 1% or about 1 gallon), a
$12.00 per gallon residual product disposal charge will be billed.
Non-empty IBCs with regulated material will not be accepted.
2.
All IBC’s must
be secured with the proper fill caps, gaskets and bungs. All valves must be
closed and all labels must remain in place. Federal Regulations
prohibit the pickup of open containers.
3. $30.00
per IBC or $20.00 per IBC Bottle will be charged for all IBC’s and IBC
BOTTLE’S that are unserviceable
(see attached description and photos). IBCs that do not bear the Myers/CMS
pick up label may be charged collection freight and disposal costs.
“Serviceable” is defined as
(see attached examples):
-
An IBC provided originally by Myers/CMS to the
filler of the IBC and has the Myers/CMS sticker intact.
-
Cage is free of excessive rust, bowing or having
broken welds or bolts, maintaining its original functionality.
-
Steel pallet must have all welds and bolts intact
with no broken or bent corners. Wooden pallets must have no broken or
missing boards.
-
Bottles must be intact, free of punctures, cuts,
cracks, and must be secured with the proper fill caps, gaskets and bungs.
All valves must be closed and all labels must remain in place.
-
Bottles & cages must not be spray painted, marked
or covered with residue (i.e. lading, paint, coating, pulp, etc.)
