Pricing on the West
Coast is driven by the demand for steel in China. Domestic mills and their
foreign competitors are now selling steel in China at higher prices than in
the United States placing upward pressure on our cost of steel.
Coatings -- Regulations for applying coatings is known to be the
most stringent in the West. New coatings and application technologies come
at a higher cost. Energy -- Costs for cleaning containers and
curing coatings has increased rapidly over the past year. Freight --The
combination of increased energy costs, along with new limits for drivers,
has increased the cost of transportation. Insurance -- Costs
for insuring our operations and our people have continued to skyrocket.
